Perfect Diamond Boca Raton
Diamonds are some of the rarest stones on earth. Because they are so rare they have a high demand. And since they have a high demand their prices are high. A 1 carat diamond can cost upwards of $25,000. And that’s for a stone only approximately 6.5mm in diameter. There is a huge value placed on diamonds which makes a perfect 100 carat diamond even the more rare. Last week I wrote about a 100 carat diamond Boca Raton with a D color and internally flawless clarity going up for auction at Sotheby’s. It had a pre-sale estimate of $25 million. I thought it would sell for more, but it actually sold for less than the estimate at $22 million. It was rather shocking, but it wasn’t the only stone for sale. Let’s see how the other pieces I wrote about did.
We wrote last week: “The main stone in this ring is a 6.24 carat pear shape diamond. It’s color is considered fancy purplish-pink. Next to the diamond are two cushion cut Kashmir sapphires weighing 2.44 and 2.36 carats each. This ring is supposed to sell for $3.5 million.”
It ended up selling for $2.4 million.
We wrote last week: “From the private collection of Paul Mellon, this 18-karat gold and platinum brooch boasting a Kashmir sapphire and diamonds by Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. dates from the 1960s and has a pre-sale high estimate of $1 million.”
This sold to an online bidder for exactly the estimate of $1 million.
Last week we wrote: “The platinum “Baron de Rothschild” pendant has emerald, sapphire, lapis and diamonds. Designed by Charles Jacqueau for Cartier in Paris circa 1924, it is expected to fetch between $1.8 and $2.2 million.”
It ended up selling for $2.6 million, more than the high end of the estimate.
We wrote last week: “This stunning ring features a 6.06 carat mixed cut oval diamond. The diamond is fancy blue in color and nicknamed the “Monarch Blue”. It is surrounded by six pink hued round brilliant diamonds. The ring itself is platinum and rose gold. It is expected to sell for $4.5 million.”
For some reason the selling price wasn’t listed but I assume it got at least it’s asking price of $4.5 million.
