Sotheby’s Top 10 – Loan for Jewelry Boca Raton
Would you spend $30 million on a ruby ring? Well an anonymous bidder did just that at the most recent Sotheby’s auction. A Cartier ring with a 25.59 carat Burmese ruby sold for $30.3 million and set three world records in the process. It is called the “Sunrise Ruby”. It has an untreated pigeon’s blood red color and set the record for highest price paid for a ruby. It also was the highest price paid per carat for a ruby and the highest price paid for a jewel by Cartier. And not only did the stone break records, the auction itself broke the record for most money in revenue for any jewelry auction at $160.9 million. This defeated Christie’s record of $150.2 million in November 2014. Another notable sale at the auction was for the 8.72 carat “Historic Pink” diamond. It is a fancy vivid pink diamond that sold for $15.9 million which actually missed its pre-sale estimate of $18 million. Below is a list of the top 10 sales from the auction.
