With the price of gold reaching all time highs more and more people are considering selling their gold jewelry and coins.  Let’s face it, we could all use some more cash.  Cash for gold Boca Raton buyers are popping up everywhere!  Everyone seems like they are buying gold these days.

If you are thinking about selling your gold make sure you choose someone reputable.  These are the places that will pay you the most.  How do you know if the store is reputable?  Do your research.  Google the name of the shop.  Read reviews on the company.  How long have they been in business?  Do the employees seem trustworthy?  Going to a reputable gold buyer is the first step in maximizing your money.

Selling gold is not an exact science.  The price of gold fluctuates on a daily basis which means you might get more for your gold one day and less for it the next.  Make sure that the place you are going to is upfront and honest with the price they are paying.  Most places pay around the same amount so going to 10 places is not worth it.  However, you have to do your research.  A lot of the local pawn shops buying gold can tell if you have done your homework.  If you haven’t done your research, it shows, and you might not be maximizing the amount of cash you get.

Also, make sure you know your gold.  There is a difference between 10kt, 14kt, and 18kt gold.  It has to do with the percentage of gold used in that piece.  For example 24kt is pure gold which means the only metal in that piece is gold.  14kt contains a percentage of gold along with other metals like copper or silver.  14kt means 14 out of 24 or 58.5% of the metal in that particular piece is gold.   Make sure you are getting paid for the right amount of gold.  Some not-so-reputable places will quote you prices based on10kt or 14kt when your pieces is in fact 18kt.  Therefore you are missing out on cash.

In conclusion, make sure you have done your research before selling your gold.  Know approximately what each piece weighs and what karat gold it is.  Knowing just a little bit more about your gold will help you get the most cash possible.
