The Santos was designed in 1904 by Louis Cartier to his friend, the Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont. The aviator was looking for a watch that could be used during his flights, since pocket watches were not suitable. The Santos was also the first wristwatch made for men and first sold in 1911, which is the same year of the date of Cartier’s first production of wristwatches.
The Santos family of watches has grown over the last century to include many models, including the Santos Dumont, the Santos Demoiselle, and the Santos 100, the 100 year anniversary model.
