Final Presidential Debate at Lynn University in Boca Raton

Final Presidential Debate

Today is the day.  It’s the final presidential debate at Lynn University.  It’s the last time both candidates will share a stage to debate the hot topics leading up to this year’s election.  This is the debate that will have the longest lasting effect on voters.  Throw the first two away.  This is the only one that matters.  And it’s happening in Boca Raton, Fl.

It was only four years ago when FAU played host to the Democratic Primary in Boca.  Now, Lynn University has “one-upped” FAU by hosting the final presidential debate between both candidates from the democratic party and the republican party.

Boca Raton does not look like the normal city to host a debate.  It’s a city of less than 100,000 and has never produced any famous politicians.  So why Boca Raton?

I think there are a few reasons why the debate is in Boca.  First, Lynn University paid a hefty sum to host it.  Second, Boca Raton is a affluent city with a lot of retirees and wealthy people.  They have large roads, making it easy to drive the candidates in and out, and the city is relatively safe.  Also, Boca Raton has a great private airport just minutes from the venue.  While president Obama will surely be flying on Air Force 1 and probably fly into a major airport, Romney will fly his private jet right into the Boca airport.

If you’ve ever been to Boca Raton it’s a beautiful city in a swing state in an area that often changes the election.  Remember 2004?  The entire balloting came down to a few votes in Palm Beach County (where Boca is located).  Bush ultimately won but there was a lot of attention on that area.

Boca Raton is a great place to host a presidential debate.
