Local Pawn Shop vs Online Pawn Shop
After the “Great Recession” that started in 2008, pawn shops have been popping up all over the country. People in the US needed to get loans because banks stopped lending. A local pawn shop offered a great alternative for some of us. Pawn shops are always lending as long as you have collateral.
What happened next is pawn shops started to open their doors online! There are only a few states in the country that allow you to do loans out of state which means there are only a few online pawn shops. All you have to do is send them your item, they will evaluate it, and send you a check or wire you money. It works just like a local pawn shop, but online.
Personally, I think online pawn shops aren’t as good as your local pawn shop. First of all, you never see anyone face to face. There is something to be said about a face to face interaction. Second, sending personal items through the mail is risky. How comfortable would you be sending your Rolex from Florida to Colorado? Third, it’s a much slower process. If you need a loan today, you can’t get one. Usually a pawn shop is a last resort, something you don’t plan on needing. If you need cash today you only have one choice, go to a local pawn shop.
Also, you can’t get cash from an online pawn shop. A lot of us who use a pawn shop from time to time want cash, not a check. A pawn shop is a great place to get a loan “under the radar”. There is no credit check, and if you get cash, no one would ever know you were even there. Getting a check requires you going to cash it or depositing it, meaning more taxes.
If you need fast cash, don’t go online to an online pawn shop. Come to your local pawn shop and get cash today.
