Groupon, the daily online coupon company, is getting into the jewelry business. Well, not exactly but they will be selling wedding related jewelry by vendors through their website. They are calling it the “Wedding Shop” and it will feature engagement rings, wedding day jewelry, and more. Everything will have extremely discounted prices. Many people use Groupon to get a deal at the local restaurant, save on appliances, or even book a vacation. But wedding jewelry will be a new category for them. In this recovering economy it will be very lucrative to sell jewelry Boca Raton at steep discounts. The shop will “open” on April 16th in a little over a week.
The shop will debut with a few things in its inventory. One example is a 1-carat princess cut diamond engagement ring set in 14kt gold. Groupon states the estimated retail price is over $11,000 and they have listed for only $999. That is a discount of over 90%. There is a 10-karat gold and diamond band is available for $229.99, down from $899.99, and men’s stainless steel and titanium wedding bands are $14.99, down from $113.99, markdowns of 75 and 87 percent, respectively. They will also be selling diamond hoop earrings, diamond channel bands and pearl jewelry for less than $100.
