David Yurman Files Suet Against Sam’s Club

Sam's Club Being Sued by David Yurman

Filed September 4th, prominent jewelry company David Yurman is suing Wal-Mart owned Sam’s Club for selling their jewelry in 4 retailer stores in Texas and online platforms. This is similar to the BJ’s case with Alex and Ani bracelets.

Talk about a scandal! Many know David Yurman jewelry because it is one of the more affordable sterling silver and gold cable style jewelry. The company started in 1980 after founder David Yurman and his wife Sybil Yurman decided they wanted to bring a type of jewelry that was not only a work of art, but a fashion statement. Even though fairly new for a jewelry company David Yurman has taken off dramatically. The company is endorsed by celebrities such as Kate Moss, Gisele Bundchen, and Kate Upton.

Because of its unique style there has become a bit of a problem with Sam’s Club and David Yurman. September 4th David Yurman filed suit against Sam’s Club for trademark infringement, unfair competition, and interference of contract. The filing was done in Houston Federal Court.

David Yurman claims that there were 4 Texas outlets selling David Yurman without permission granted. Thats a big no-no. The Wal-Mart owned warehouse company also was using David Yurman’s trademarks without any authorization by the fashion icon.

“Our company very carefully controls the retail distribution of our merchandise to ensure that David Yurman jewelry and timepieces are available at only the finest jewelry and department stores,” said Phillips Nazro, Yurman vice president and general counsel, in a statement. Yurman’s reps said in a statement.

Sam’s Club told JCK, “We have protocols in place to provide our members with authentic, high-quality products. We believe those protocols were followed in this instance.”

We will update you with this story when more information unfolds. It doesn’t look that good so far.
