Rolex Explorer II Boca Raton
Rolex is the king of watches. No wonder the crown is their logo. They sell more certified chronometers than the next five companies combined. They are the ultimate when it comes to luxury watches. They have all different kinds of watches: tool watches, luxury watches, sport watches, etc. Their most popular models are the Submariner and the President. However, today I am going to review the Rolex Explorer II Boca Raton.
The Rolex Explorer II is the premier tool watch. It is the perfect beater. Beater means a watch you can wear every day, scratch, beat up, whatever, and it will still work. The case is 40mm and is made with 904L stainless steel. It is the best kind of steel you can use in a watch. It is an oyster case which Rolex made famous. It has crown guards guarding the crown from accidental bumps and bruises.
The dial on the Explorer II can be one of two colors: black or white. On this particular watch the dial is a dark black. At the top it reads Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date Explorer II and at the bottom it reads Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified. The markers are standard green luminescent markers. There is a date window at 3 o’clock with a magnifying glass on the sapphire crystal. There are four hands: hour hand, minute hand, second hand, and extra 24 hour hand. This is because the Explorer II can tell two time zones simultaneously, a similar function to the Rolex GMT-Master II.
The bracelet on the Explorer II is always an oyster bracelet that is brushed. Brushed means the metal looks more dull compared to the polished bracelet on some Rolex models. Rolex usually saves the polished links for sportier or fancier watches. Both the Submariner and the Explorer feature brushed links because they are meant to be tool watches. The clasp is a flip lock deployment clasp which keeps the watch secure on the wrist.
The Rolex Explorer II Boca Raton is the perfect tool watch. It’s an every day watch that’s meant to be worn.
