Rolex Submariner Boca Raton
The Submariner is the quintessential Rolex watch. It is sleek, cool, and functional. It has just enough bling for people to notice but still flies under the radar. It looks great with a t-shirt and jeans or a suit. But what makes the Rolex Submariner so expensive? After all, it’s made out of stainless steel and ceramic. It has a minimal amount of precious metals found in the hands and doesn’t feature any diamonds. How does Rolex justify an $8,550.00 retail price?
Design
Few watches deserve the description “perfectly designed” but the Rolex Submariner is. And when I say perfectly designed I mean towards the masses, not the high end watch collector. Sure a Patek Philippe 5712 might be more stunning to a connoisseur but to “normal” people, they might not understand the true beauty. Which is why the Submariner is perfect. Even normal people can appreciate its beauty. It’s a simple watch really. It has a stainless steel Oyster case and a stainless steel bracelet. The black dial matches the black ceramic bezel perfectly. The dial has luminescent circle markers that allow you to read the time. No roman numerals or Arabic numbers. Just simple. The bezel has Arabic numbers every 10 minutes because it’s supposed to be used to time your dive. However, I’ve never heard of anyone actually using this function. The Sub has a certain sporty look that makes you cool for just wearing one. The bezel is cut in such a way that as you move your wrist light reflects just so slightly as to draw attention to the watch. But not the kind of attention diamonds would or gold. It makes you look for just a second and say to yourself, “that looks like a cool watch, the kind of watch I’d like to have”.
Functionality
The Rolex Submariner is very functional. At its heart it features a handcrafted mechanical self-winding movement. Each Rolex movement is made to comply with the strict guidelines to become a certified chronometer. So you can be sure that when you are reading the hours, minutes, or seconds they are accurate. If you get the 116610 rather than the 114060 you will have a date function as well. This is probably the most handy feature of a watch besides the time. I mean honestly who needs to have the year displayed on their watch. If you don’t know what year it is you don’t deserve a Rolex. Anyway the date is displayed under Rolex’s trademarked 2.5x cyclops which makes it super easy to read. And besides being a great time teller this watch is sturdy. It is made so well it is guaranteed to last 1,000 feet under water. That’s a lot of pressure trying to get in and ruin the watch. But its seals are so strong that it can basically be worn anywhere. As an every day watch it’s perfect. It’s scratch resistant sapphire crystal is just that. You can bang it around and it rarely, if ever, scratches. And since the bezel is ceramic it doesn’t either.
Craftsmanship
Rolex watches are made with the utmost craftsmanship. Every Submariner should look exactly like every other Submariner. Everything is made perfect. From the width of the case, to the size of the bracelet, to the space between markers on the dial. Everything is correct. Nothing will ever be crooked, loose, or falling apart. And it’s not only the outside that falls under this criteria. The movement inside must be perfect as well. In order to mass produce a luxury watch Rolex has to make sure anyone who is buying one experiences the same thing.
The Rolex Submariner is the perfect entry level Rolex watch. It’s sporty design can be worn casual or fancy. It is a cool watch meant to be worn by a cool person.
