The Apple Watch will be available for pre-order starting Friday of this week.  You won’t be able to buy it however, until April 24th.  With all the hype surrounding Apple’s new product a lot of questions will be answered.  Questions like will it sell?  Who will buy it?  Will it work?  Will it change our lives like iPhone and iPad?  The Apple watch is considered a wearable device and will enter an entire new sector for Apple.  They are gambling with a brand new product.  But it’s not like they’ve never done it before.  The iPod, iPhone, and iPad were all brand new ventures for Apple as well.  Also, a lot of us want to know how it will effect brands like Rolex and other traditional watch companies.  Only time will tell but here are a few guesses.  Sell Watches Boca Raton.

The computer on a wrist idea is not new.  Samsung and many other technology companies have been selling a “watch” for a couple years now but they haven’t caught on.  And from what has been said, the Apple Watch will have very similar features to the Samsung Gear.  So why will the Apple watch succeed?  Well, I’m not saying it will succeed.  But if it does it will be because of the following.  Apple is able to make their devices so user friendly that using one is practically intuitive.   You don’t need an instruction booklet on how to use it.  You just turn it on, and start doing what you have to do.  Everything on an Apple device feels realistic.  When you scroll on something Apple it works just like you think it would in real life.  The physics are true to form.  In other brands like Samsung the scrolling feature just isn’t as sooth.  It is something so simple but changes the way you feel about a product.

Will the Apple Watch put companies like Rolex out of business?  Only time will tell, but my guess is no.  Rolex watches are Rolex watches.  They are mechanical timepieces made by hand where as the Apple watch is more like a computer on the wrist.  I don’t think it will effect what Rolex is doing.  However, I do think it will put a dent into what companies like Michael Kors are doing.  The aluminum and stainless steel versions have very similar price points and I think consumers will switch to Apple because of the functionality.  So I think higher end brands like Audemars and Rolex and Patek Philippe will be fine, but the lower end brands will suffer.

And as far as a $17,000 gold Apple Watch goes, I can’t see it.  I don’t understand why even the person with too much money would buy one.  There is a limited amount of gold on the watch and in one year the watch will be obsolete and you will have to buy a new one.  The price is not what scares me as many high end luxury watch brands charge tens of thousands of dollars.  It’s the fact that you will only use it for a year before the newer model comes out.

The Apple Watch will be a success and take away from brands like Michael Kors, but it will not effect high end companies like Rolex.
