Sotheby’s is listing for auction in New York the largest ever perfect emerald cut diamond. It is expected to fetch $25 million or more when it finally sells. It is a D color, which on the color scale is the best. It also has a clarity rating of internally flawless, which can’t get any better either. Sotheby’s said “at this impressive scale, diamonds of this exceptional quality … are incredibly rare, and considered ‘perfect.’” The stone itself was 200 carats rough, and cut down to 100 carats. This stunning ring features a 6.06 carat mixed cut oval diamond. The diamond is fancy blue in color and nicknamed the “Monarch Blue”. It is surrounded by six pink hued round brilliant diamonds. The ring itself is platinum and rose gold. It is expected to sell for $4.5 million.
The main stone in this ring is a 6.24 carat pear shape diamond. It’s color is considered fancy purplish-pink. Next to the diamond are two cushion cut Kashmir sapphires weighing 2.44 and 2.36 carats each. This ring is supposed to sell for $3.5 million.
The platinum “Baron de Rothschild” pendant has emerald, sapphire, lapis and diamonds. Designed by Charles Jacqueau for Cartier in Paris circa 1924, it is expected to fetch between $1.8 and $2.2 million.
From the private collection of Paul Mellon, this 18-karat gold and platinum brooch boasting a Kashmir sapphire and diamonds by Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. dates from the 1960s and has a pre-sale high estimate of $1 million.
