6 Reasons to say YES to a used engagement ring

Till death do us part or till we get divorced? Divorce is an ugly yet common end to almost 50% of marriages in today’s society.  This is a devastating statistic but let’s focus on the positives, this means that around 50% of engagement rings are sitting in jewelry boxes, sad and waiting to shine bright once again on a bride to be’s hand. Bottom line is that divorce is not fun, it can cause emotional and financial hardships that linger for years to come. However, as a “glass half full” type of girl,  I believe we can bring light to divorce and help out our fellow women of the world. We can do this by taking old engagement ring’s out of their jewelry boxes and filling their wallets with cash to buy a new piece of jewelry. Nothing helps a broken heart quite like a celebratory shopping spree to become more fabulous than ever.

Don’t fall victim to the marketing illusion that engagement rings should never be resold.  This helps control supply, but you are smarter than that. You can see the beauty in a “Pre-Loved” ring that you will love endlessly. Here’s 6 reasons you should say “I do” to a pre-owned ring.

1) Diamonds are literally billions of years old.

The average diamond is 1 billion to 3.3 billion years old, so if you think a couple of years and a divorce are going to age your diamond you are wrong! The concept of one year, or even 20 years on someone’s hand is like a spec of sand on the beach. Your diamond was being formed around the same time as dinosaurs were! (that’s crazy) but it’s not crazy to buy a used engagement ring.

2) Fine gemstones and their metal settings are some of the most durable materials on Earth.
Even a new ring may have a recycled diamond, but it can be impossible to tell because the stones don’t show age or wear. AKA these ring’s are timeless and a few years on someone else’s hand can never change that!

3) Better value.
Even worse than a car once you drive it off the lot, an engagement ring retains as little as 30 percent of its value once it becomes second-hand. Pre-owned rings sell for a fraction of the retail price; You’ll be surprised how far your budget will stretch. We’re talking “More for your money” like never before. Let’s get real – not everyone has a ridiculous amount of cash to drop on a ring. However, everyone deserves a beautiful ring with any type of budget.

4) Ring karma won’t make or break your marriage – that’s all you.

Buying a pre owned ring is a lot like buying vintage clothes, or buying a house with previous owners. It doesn’t matter what the item’s past entailed, all that matters is that its yours now.  On a side note: if you believe in “Ring Karma” playing a part in your marriage’s success then I suggest you re-think this whole marriage thing.

5) It’s your little secret!

A beautiful ring speaks for itself. Nobody needs to know where you got your ring from, all that matters is that it’s from your fiancé. Don’t be one of those girls who feels the need to keep up with the Jones’s, but if you are, then a little white lie to satisfy your judgmental colleagues never hurt.

6) They’re unique.

Antique and vintage rings have glamour, design and craftsmanship that makes them truly unique. A 1940s ring from Paris? Yes. Please. I can assure you that you’ll never meet another girl with the same ring. But if you do then it only means she’s almost as fabulous as you are.
