Sell Watches Boca Raton
The most expensive watch of all time just sold at the Only Watch 2015 Benefit Auction. Can you guess what brand it was? Yea you guessed it, Patek Philippe of course. Can you guess what it sold for? Think now, this is a bit harder. It sold for 7.3 Million Swiss Francs! The ration between Swiss Franc and the US Dollar is about equal so imagine a watch just sold for over $7 million! That’s insane. And what’s even more crazy, it’s stainless steel! But it was just one of a bunch of watches that exceeded their pre-auction estimates. There were some really cool watches listed for sale. What set this auction apart from others is the watches being sold were one of one’s, so if you bought it you would be the only one with it. And it was also held to support the cause to find a cure to Muscular Dystrophy which I think also helped boost sale prices. Check out some of the watches sold today. Sell Watches Boca Raton.
Tudor has never participated in the Only Watch auction until this year. This also happens to be the same year they introduced the Black Bay Black (yes I know I said black twice). So what more fitting than to put for auction a 1 of 1 Tudor Black Bay Black special edition? After all, the BB Black is the watch we have all been waiting for since the first inception of it in 1955. The older model reference 7923 was the only Tudor Sub to be made with a manual wind movement and not an automatic one. The Tudor Black Bay has since been updated and was released with a red bezel and blue bezel. We all hoped they would release the black bezel model and they did not disappoint. The new model is larger than the original but stays true to its original design. It’s basically a more modern version of the exact same watch. The Black Bay Black at the Only Watch auction had a pre-sale estimate less than $5,000. Guess what it sold for? $375,000! What drove the price, in my opinion, is because it is the only known 1 of 1 watch Rolex or Tudor has ever produced. Now that’s a selling point.
But the main event in this who’s who of watch auctions is of course this Patek Philippe. When Patek’s starting showing up at these auctions in metals not accustomed to being on the watch, you can expect a huge pay day. For example, a 3939 in Steel went for $1.4 million in 2011. Two years later a 5004 in titanium sold for almost $4 million. The watch for sale this year is a 5016A-010 in stainless steel. This is the only version of this watch in stainless steel. The estimate on the watch was between $743,000 and $955,000 but most serious collectors assumed this was way too low. The 5004 in titanium had an estimate less than a million too and look what it sold for. Well, today, a bidder with an English accent paid $7.3 million for it making it the most expensive watch ever made.
