Boca Pawn
Unless you live under a rock, you know last night the Miami Heat won the NBA Championship for a second year in a row! LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh won their second ring together after a hard fought game 7 in Miami. In the next few days the dust will settle but the incredible high all Miami residents are on will continue on until they are fitted with their rings. Once next season starts this season will be forgotten about and they will be on a mission to win #3! Hopefully you won’t see one of their rings in a Boca Pawn shop anytime soon.
The Heat started out the playoffs with a quick sweep of the Milwaukee Bucks, a team that actually gave them a lot of trouble in the regular season. They couldn’t have asked for a better start to the playoffs.
Next came the Bulls, who actually stole the first game of the series. The Bulls were playing without a lot of their stars but still made the series competitive. Even though the Bulls won the first game the Heat came back and won the next four to advance. The series proved very physical and was actually closer than the five games would suggest.
In the third round they faced a Pacers team who had beaten Miami more times in the regular season than Miami beat them. The Pacers had one of the best defenses in the league which meant it was going to be a very tough series. After a close game 1 win by the Heat, the Pacers won game two Miami. The Heat were up 3-2 with a chance to close it out but the Pacers won game 6 forcing a game 7 in Miami. Miami dominated the final game and advanced to play the Spurs in the finals.
The Spurs were definitely the best team to face Miami yet. They came within 30 seconds of winning the series in 6 games on Miami’s home court. But Ray Allen hit a clutch corner three pointer with seconds left that sent the game to a game 7. After a very physical game Miami outlasted San Antonio and became champions for the second straight year!
The NBA is a great sport in that the best team usually wins it all. This year the Heat were the consensus best team and that’s how the season played out. Is a three-peat in Miami’s future? Only time will tell.
