What are the 4 c’s?  Well first of all, we have to specify what we’re referring to.  When grading a diamond, there are 4 c’s that account for much of its value.  They are carat, color, clarity, and cut.  These four things can determine whether a diamond is worth a few hundred dollars or multiple millions of dollars.  Cut refers to how well the diamonds facets react with the light around it.  Carat refers to how much the diamond weighs (how big it is).  Color is actually used to measure the absence of color.  And clarity means how many inclusions and blemishes are in the stone.  Learning the 4 C’s is imperative to understand the value of a stone and before you sell diamonds Boca Raton.

Cut is commonly mentioned as the most important of the 4 C’s.  Diamonds are known for the amazing ability to transmit light and sparkle intensely.  Usually people think as a diamond’s cut as what shape it is, but really the cut grade tells how well the facets on the stone interact with light.   A professional diamond cutter uses extremely refined skills to cut a stone to the proper dimensions and symmetry.  The cut is crucial to a diamonds shine and brilliance.  Besides being very important, the cut grade is also the most difficult to measure.

The color grade of a diamond is based on the absence of light.  A pure diamond with no color is similar to a pure drop of water, and the closer the diamond is to having no color the more valuable it becomes.  A diamond’s color is graded on a scale from D-Z, with D being colorless and Z being very light.  The difference between the color of an F grade and G grade is very slight and almost not noticeable to the untrained eye.  But even one letter different can change the value of the diamond significantly.

A natural diamond is the result of carbon exposed to incredible heat and pressure deep inside the earth.  When this happens it normally causes internal characteristics called inclusions or external characteristics called blemishes.  When you want to give a diamond a clarity grade you have to consider the number, size, relief, nature, and position of these characteristics.  And while no stone is physically pure, the closer you come the more valuable the stone.  There are 6 categories, some of which are divided, to make 11 total clarity grades.  The grades are as follows: flawless, internally flawless, VVS1 and VVS2, VS1 and VS2, SI1, SI2, and SI3, and I1, I2, and I3.  The closest the grade is to flawless the more valuable the stone.

So when evaluating a stone to sell diamonds Boca Raton you have to consider all four C’s.  And while the four C’s are a great indicator to the value of a stone, there are many other characteristics to consider before buying a diamond.
