The Rolex Deep Sea Dweller was worn by Philippe Cousteau. He was a ocean fanatic who was a filmmaker and oceanographer. He proudly wore this antique Rolex for 10 years before giving it to his friend Thomas Horton. The watches reference number was 1665. Buying this watch on various shopping sites is 5 figures and up. This is one of the oldest reference numbers to date for the Sea Dweller Collection.
Philippe Cousteau was the son of French Naval Officer Jacques Cousteau. Jacques was a conservationist, scientist, author and researcher. He specialized in studying the ocean and all its mysteries. Philippe would accompany him on his excursions. Philippe was the lead photographer as well during the expeditions.
Philippe wore his Sea Dweller a lot and was photographed wearing it. The stainless steel diver watch featured a chronometer feature, center seconds, helium escape valve, double red sea dweller logo, date, and Rolex oyster flip lock bracelet.
