Customers are Angry with the iPhone 5 Defect

Everyone is so excited about the new iPhone 5. But there is one downfall that people seem to be complaining about – it scratches really easily.

Customers are Angry with the iPhone 5 Defect

So, the latest supply of iPhone 5’s has been constrained by a quality control crackdown to limit the number of phones that go out with scratches on the frames and back covers. The reason the scratches are occurring is because Apple is using an anodized aluminum chassis for the iPhone. This is why the phone is so much lighter and thinner, but the material they are using is way easier to scuff up than older iPhones.

Apple hasn’t acknowledged the complaints about the scratched up iPhones, but their SVP of marketing Phil Schiller apparently told one angry customer in an email that this is “normal.” This probably isn’t a response you’d want to hear if you just spent all of that money on a defective new phone, is it?

Because of the constraints put on the supply of the iPhone 5, Apple’s stock has gone down. In fact, since the phone was released two and a half weeks ago, Apple has lost more than $60 billion in market value.
