Are you looking to buy a new smartphone? Maybe you’re eligible for an upgrade? Well the two hottest phones on the market are the Apple iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Both are incredibly fast and powerful and both offer very different features. Which one is best for you? We will discuss the most important features below.
First, the screen. The iPhone 5 upgraded from a 3.5″ to a larger 4″ screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9 (the same aspect ratio that your HDTV has). This means when you turn the phone sideways to watch videos you are watching it the way the creator intended. However, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has a 5.55″ display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. When placed side by side to the iPhone it really is significantly bigger. It also has a higher retina display resolution than the iPhone. While the big screen is great for pretty much anything you can do on a smartphone, turning it sideways almost ensures you have to use two hands. Both screens are incredibly powerful for such small devises and it really comes down to how you intend to use your devise.
Second, we’ll talk about the camera. Actually, both phones have an 8 MP camera and both are capable or recording 1080p HD video. The only differences are the iPhone 5 offers a panorama shot while the Galaxy Note 2 offers some features like Best Face and Smile detection. The cameras on both phones are virtually identical.
Third, we’ll get into some features and specs. Both the iPhone 5 and the Galaxy Note 2 offer hard drive sizes of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. However, the Galaxy has an SD card slot with the option to add more memory if necessary. Also, the Galaxy has a stylus which makes drawing and writing notes even easier. The iPhone 5 has a A6 Dual Core processor while the Note 2 has a 1.6GHz quad-core processor. iPhone has 1GB of RAM while the Galaxy Note has 2GB.
Finally, the price. The 16GB iPhone 5 starts at $199.99 with a 2-year contract while the Galaxy Note 2 starts at $299.99 for the same 2-year contract. They both go up from there.
Now that we’ve laid out the facts the decision is yours. If you want a smartphone that has unbelievable features and is super fast get the iPhone 5. But if you want a device that can double as a Tablet, get the Note. I guarantee you won’t but upset with either.
