Rolex Boca Raton
Rolex makes many different types of watches. They make sport watches that are meant to be worn every day. They have dress watches that can be worn for fancy occasions. And they have watches than can be worn with both. In recent years it seems that sport watches have taken the watch industry by storm and are now the most popular style purchased. One Rolex Boca Raton sport watch that often goes overlooked is the Explorer II.
The Explorer II is truly an everyday sport watch. It has an all brushed stainless steel case which means it will absorb a lot of wear and tear. Scratches don’t show up as easily on brushed stainless steel as they do on polished steel. It is a standard 40mm sized case which is about average for a men’s watch these days.
The bracelet on the Explorer II is the Oyster style and is also brushed steel. Some watches like the Daytona or GMT II, which are also sport watches, have polished center links which makes for a fancier look. But the polished links scratch much easier. The Explorer II and Submariner both have brushed links that are meant to be banged around.
You can pick between a white or black dial on the Explorer II, there are only two choices. Both look exceptional, it just depends which color you prefer. The bezel has 24 hour markings surrounding it in increments of 2-24.
Like the GMT II, the Explorer II has a GMT time function. This means it can show two time zones at once. It has two hour hands that can each be set independently. If you think about it, the GMT II and Explorer II are actually very similar watches. Both have a GMT function and a date function. The biggest difference between the two is the GMT II bezel can be rotated, while the Explorer II’s is fixed.
The Explorer II is a great everyday watch. It is made in 904L stainless steel which is some of the best steel money can buy. The watch is meant to be worn every day and not babied. It’s a great Rolex that doesn’t get a lot of mention. But if you own one, you know how special it is.
