100.09ct Yellow Diamond $16.3 Million – Loan for Jewelry Boca Raton
Would you spend $16.3 million on a diamond? Even if it’s over 100 carats? And it’s a rare fancy vivid yellow? No? Me either. But one anonymous buyer did 3 days ago at a Sotheby’s auction in Geneva. The stone nicknamed the “Graff Vivid Yellow” has a clarity rating of VS2 and is daffodil yellow colored. It is a cushion cut stone. You could get a lot of money for that stone if you needed a loan for jewelry Boca Raton.
It set two records. One for being the most expensive yellow diamond ever sold at auction and two for being the most expensive Graff jewel sold at auction. It is one of the largest fancy vivid yellow diamonds in the world. “With its exceptional size and a superb daffodil color, the Graff Vivid Yellow is a truly extraordinary diamond with immense presence. These rare qualities led to the record price achieved,” said David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby’s Switzerland and chairman of the jewelry department for Europe and the Middle East.
The previous record for the most expensive fancy vivid yellow diamond sold was $12.4 million. It was called the “Sun Drop” diamond which was later renamed the “Lady Dalal”. This was three years ago at Sotheby’s Geneva.
The diamond was part of a trio nicknamed the “Tremendous Trio”. The three comprised of the Graff Vivid Yellow, another ring by Graff that has a 103.46 carat brilliant cut white diamond, and the “Victory Diamond” which is a 31.34 carat step cut diamond that didn’t sell.
