Apple Loses Appeal in Patent Dispute with Samsung

Will the fighting ever end? Well, this might be the beginning of a settlement of this quarrel between Apple and Samsung – finally. A UK court has ruled that Samsung in fact did not copy Apple’s iPad with its Galaxy Tablet.

Apple Loses Appeal in Patent Dispute with Samsung

Britain’s High Court ruled in favor of Samsung, but for a reason that Samsung probably didn’t appreciate – the Galaxy Tablet may have some similarities, but it’s just “not as cool” as the iPad, so it can’t be confused with it. Ouch.

Britain’s Court of Appeal told Apple they have to run ads in newspapers stating that Samsung didn’t copy the iPad when they created their Galaxy Tablet.

This ruling isn’t just valid in the UK, but throughout the rest of Europe, so hopefully this will end the patent dispute between the two companies. Well, as far as tablets anyway. Although, Apple does have the option to appeal the UK Supreme Court’s decision.

Samsung was obviously happy with the decision (even though it was sort of a slap in the face) and stated, “We continue to believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corner.”
