David Yurman Boca Raton
David Yurman is well known around the world. They are a famous brand that competes with the likes of Cartier and Tiffany & Co. The company and Yurman himself are recognized by anyone with an eye on the jewelry business.
David Yurman, now 71, was born in October in 1942. He started off he designer career by selling small sculptures in his cafeteria at school. When he turned 16 he was introduced to a Cuban sculptor named Ernesto Gonzalez. Yurman used sculpture to express his emotions and feelings. He turned his hobby into a career with an apprenticeship with Theodore Roszak and Jacques Lipchitz (both of whom were renown). David Yurman Boca Raton.
Yurman went to one year of college at NYU before leaving and hitchhiking to California. He eventually found himself in the beatnik artist colony of Big Sur. In the late 1960’s Yurman returned to the East Coast where he started work with sculptor Hans Van de B0venkamp. In Van de Bovenkamp’s studio, Yurman met a man named Sybil Kleinrock who also recently returned from Big Sur in California.
Sybil was wearing one of Yurman’s pieces to an art opening. It caught the eye of the gallery owner who asked if it was for sale. At first David Yurman didn’t want to sell his designs, but he realized there was an opportunity for a business. Yurman and Sybil moved to the countryside and founded Putnam Art Works. David and Sybil eventually got married in 1979. At this point they were learning the ins and outs of the jewelry business, preparing themselves for something bigger.
In 1980, David Yurman, the brand, was formed. The world went crazy for his cable designed bracelet that are still popular today. David Yurman has since gone on to create a huge selection of both men and women’s jewelry, along with watches and other accessories.
