Would You Buy Jewelry Boca Raton from a 3D Printer?
Cooksongold and A3DM Technologies have announced a strategic partnership to introduce 3D printers to the jewelry industry. Cooksongold is a global supplier of fabricated precious metals. The printer would allow jewelry designers the ability to print jewelry instantly and see their creation fast. No more giving your design to a jeweler only to have him make something that looks nothing like the original plan you came up with. A 3D printer will print the exact design you had in mind. So this begs the question, would you buy jewelry Boca Raton from a 3D printer?
Cooksongold is launching the M 080 direct metal laser sintering machine along with its associated precious metal powders in partnership with Electro Optical Systems (EOS), which has been heavily involved in the 3D printing of metal products. For now, the 3D printer is only capable of printing in yellow and rose gold, but it will be able to print white gold and sterling silver.
In the past, 3D printers have only been used in certain industries like medical devices. Cooksongold has been working on creating a 3D printer for jewelry for many years. “The main difference with these is that (the machines) are capturing every single pieces of metal for use,” he said. The M 080 was designed to contain the powder so that metal is contained and loss is minimized.
The machines are expected to be available for sale this November to customers in the United States. While an official price has not been announced, interested buyers are insisted to call Cooksongold for more information. Their target audience is manufactures, retailers, and designers. Cooksongold also wants to be able to have customers send them their design, and they can print it for them.
3D printing seems to be infiltrating many industries around the world. It could revolutionize the way we produce things on a day to day basis.
