Fine Watchmaking from Louis Vuitton Boca Raton

Louis Vuitton is a high end fashion brand.  They are most popular for handbags, clothes, shoes, and accessories.  And while they do sell watches they were just considered overpriced accessories.  But now, Louis Vuitton introduced the Escale Worldtime Minute Repeater.  Besides being a very complicated watch it is also magnificently stunning to look at.  It is incredibly colorful and looks more like a piece of art or modern painting than a watch.  It is really their first bold move into high-end watchmaking and if this is a sign of things to come they are in good shape.  Louis Vuitton Boca Raton will look to be a big player in the luxury watch market.

The Escale Worldtime was introduced last year, but without a minute repeater.  It draws attention to itself because of its hand painted dial and use of different colors at different time zones to present them all at once.  There are more than 38 colors which make the dial look more like a painting than a watch dial.  Each pictograph represents a different time zone.  There are three separate discs on the face of the watch which are all adjusted by a single crown.  The largest disc on the outside displays colorful paintings and the 24 cities around the world.  When you align the V on the crown with the case you can set the home time and it also sets which time zone the minute repeater will chime for.  Because of this, the time zone can be set with the push of a button within the crown.  When you push the button it moves the city you are looking for to the top of the dial.  When you activate the minute repeater it will give you the time in your home city.  You can also read any time zone at any given point with ease thanks to the hour disc and world time disc moving in sync.

Even though the watch is so complex the case fits perfectly on the wrist.  It is a rather large 44mm in diameter, however that is just about right for a men’s watch these days.  It’s also less than 12mm thick.  The middle of the case is composed in titanium while the rest is 18k pink gold.  The LV235 caliber movement is the engine inside this work of art.  You can see the movement through a clear sapphire case back when you turn the watch over.

Since Louis Vuitton is known more for being a fashion brand, it only makes sense that this watch makes a fashion statement.  Besides being very complicated it screams “look at me”.  It is a watch to be worn for style as well as function.  Many high end watch companies are reverting back to simple watches that are extremely thin and easy to look at.  But the Louis Vuitton Escale Worldtime Minute Repeater is the anti Patek Philippe.  It is bright, shiny, and meant to be worn and for people to notice it.
