Sell Watches Boca Raton
In terms of watch knowledge, I would say I’m an intermediate. I know my fair share about timepieces, enough to have a conversation with a collector. I know all of the different Rolex models, I know Patek Philippe’s, and I know Cartier’s. I even know how much pre-owned watches are worth for the most part without even looking them up online. But the reason I do not consider myself an expert is because of watches like this Heuer Autavia. These are watches that only experts know about, let alone know the value of. One of these days I will fancy myself an expert, but until then I will continue to learn. So why is this watch worth $37,000 and counting? Find out here. Sell Watches Boca Raton.
The cool thing about collecting watches is you never know what you might find. You always hear stories of some unbelievable rare piece popping up on eBay and selling way below its true market value. You just never see it yourself. Well, this was a classic case of that, for about a minute. Within 12 hours this baby was up to $30,000 and still had five days left on its listing. According to Hodinkee the seller is French and has quite a story about where this watch comes from.
The seller is a collector himself, so he knows the intrinsic value of the watch. However, he did not expect the bids to soar this high. He put a reserve of only $1,700 even though he figured it would probably sell for around $12,000. Boy was he wrong! What’s even crazier is apparently the seller owns another version of the same watch, mint with the box and papers. He is selling the one you see here and keeping the other.
One thing that happens on eBay is when people are very interested, they will contact the buyer and try to arrange a sale outside of eBay. This is pretty common especially for very expensive items. However, this seller has expressed adamantly that he will not sell it outside of eBay. And for whatever reason it actually makes the listing more intriguing.
So where did this super rare Heuer come from? How did he get this watch? The seller’s father who is also a watch collector bought it at a flea market 30 years ago. Of course he did right? Now, the present seller was gifted the watch from his dad and decided to sell it because he already has the same model in better condition.
There should be some more pictures coming soon. Many have inquired about the movement and inside of the case back. We are waiting because the seller did not want to open the watch on his own without a trained watchmaker. Inside should be a Valjoux 72 which is the same movement inside a Rolex Daytona.
