Former Tiffany & Co Executive Arrested Boca Raton
A former Vice President of Design and Product Development at Tiffany & Co Boca Raton was arrested on Tuesday morning in her home in Darien, Connecticut. Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun was incarcerated for allegedly stealing jewelry from the company and reselling it. She was scheduled to appear at the courthouse in Manhattan later that same day.
The 46 year old reportedly stole $1.3 million dollars from Tiffany & Co and resold it to a Manhattan based international jewelry reseller. She claims that she “sold some of it and not all of the merchandise.” Her very high ranking in the company gave her the power to over look items for manufacturing and production. Lederhaas-Okun failed to return 165 previously checked out jewelry pieces. The pieces ranged from diamond bracelets, gold and platinum drop and hoop earrings, and diamond rings.
Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun has been working for the company since January 1991 and was the vice president of the company until March 2013. She has been charged for one count of wire fraud and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property. Both counts subject her up to 30 years in jail if she is found guilty.
