Christie’s Spring Sale – Loan for Jewelry Boca Raton

Christie’s Spring Sale – Loan for Jewelry Boca Raton

Yesterday in New York Christie’s held a Spring Sale for Important Jewelry.  It sold 85% by value and 83% by lot with 187 of the 225 lots offered purchased.   The most notable sale was for a 5.50 carat fancy vivid pink diamond that beat its pre-sale estimate by $2 million.  It is one of many colored diamonds to sell for more than expected at auction recently and netted $9.6 million.  Rahul Kadakia, international head of Christie’s Jewelry, said that colored diamonds are having a “fabulous” run at Christie’s this spring, noting that multiple phone bidders were calling in to buy the vivid pink.  It looks like the trend is towards fancy colored diamonds rather than white diamonds.  I wonder if you needed cash if your local pawn shop would give you a loan for jewelry Boca Raton.  Below are a list of other notable sales from Christie’s Spring Sale.

1.  35.21-carat Fancy Yellow

This is a 35.21 carat fancy yellow diamond ring.  It sold for $605,000 to a local jeweler in the trade.  Generally if a sale goes to someone in the trade they expect to sell it for a profit.  Depending on the color and clarity this jeweler may do well with this stone.

2.  5.91 Carats Pink Diamond

This is a rectangular cut pink diamond.  It is considered fancy light pink with VS1 clarity.  It’s presale estimate was only $675,000 and it sold for $1.8 million which was more than double the estimate.  It sold to someone in the trade as well which means they think they got a deal.  Either the jeweler got ripped off or Christie’s needs to fix the way they estimate sale prices.

3.   20.08-carat Taffin Diamond

This is a 20.08 carat diamond by Taffin.  It is a D color and VVS1 clarity with the potential to be internally flawless.  It is a rectangular cut diamond.  It was purchased by someone in the international trade for $3.1 million which was within the pre-sale estimate.

4.  5.50 Carat Pink Oval Diamond

This is a 5.50 carat pink diamond.  It is oval in shape.  The color is rated fancy vivid pink.  It was supposed to sell between $6.5 million and $7.5 million but ended up selling for $9.6 million to a member of the New York trade.  The sale of this oval-cut fancy vivid pink follows the May auction of the “Winston Blue” for $23.8 million at Christie’s Geneva and the sale of the vivid blue-green “Ocean Dream” for $8.6 million, meaning that these three colored diamonds garnered a total of $42 million.

Fancy colored diamond stones are trending upwards.  They are consistently selling for more than their pre-sale estimate price.  I’m sure we will see more of this into the near future.
