The Sotheby’s April 21 sale of Magnificent Jewels
The Sotheby’s April 21 sale of Magnificent Jewels is always a very important event in the jewelry world. On April 21st, Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels sale is estimated to reach $50 million. The lot includes some gorgeous and unique pieces. The most expected piece of the day will the 100 carat emerald cut “perfect” stone. The beautiful D color internally flawless stone is expected to sell for $25 million. The stone was cut from a 200-carat piece of rough mined by De Beers in southern Africa.
The 350-lot sale includes colored diamonds, Art Deco jewels, Kashmir sapphires and pieces with provenance. A couple other pieces with high expectations are a 6.24-carat pear-shaped fancy purplish-pink diamond set in platinum and flanked by two cushion-cut Kashmir sapphires and a 6.06-carat fancy blue set in platinum and rose gold with pink-hued diamonds. Both rings are expected to go for over $3 million.
